A Brief History

We Began in Emergency Departments

Our data-driven evaluation and continuous improvement process, coupled with a unique physician leadership track, allows Exigence to be more than a staffing or simple management company. Formed initially with the establishment of an Emergency Medicine program in 2000 at five large emergency departments (EDs) in Western New York, Exigence quickly became a national leader providing comprehensive solutions for hospitals and communities. We now service more than 400,000 patient visits annually throughout the country.

Effective In-Patient Care

Exigence began a Hospitalist staffing, management and consulting program for our hospital partners to meet the growing need for seamless care from the ED to inpatient, and compliance with Core Measures. Today, we provide Hospitalist services managing continuous, coordinated and compassionate patient care 24/7. We provide custom solutions for our partners including rapid response programs and specialty units such as geriatrics, neurosurgery, and skilled nursing.

The Urgent Care Solution

Exigence has created a model for urgent care that provides solutions for:

  • patients who require timely, quality medical attention
  • overburdened primary care physicians
  • overcrowded emergency departments
  • insurers seeking lower-cost alternatives for their customers

Utilizing state-of-the-art facilities, an electronic medical record system, and x-ray and laboratory facilities on par with any modern emergency department, our centers have been able to provide excellent medical care in a professional, courteous, compassionate and timely manner.

This year providers at Exigence managed facilities will successfully treat over 50,000 patients—usually in an hour or less. According to patient satisfaction surveys, 98% of these patients are “very satisfied” and would return to use the services again. In addition, our hospital partners, primary care physicians and insurers enthusiastically support the facilities' efforts to serve low-acuity patients.
