Mark Celmer Named President of Exigence North America

WILLIAMSVILLE, NY – Mark E. Celmer, a longtime leader of medical centers and manufacturing operations in the Buffalo area, has been named president of Exigence North America, LLC. Exigence Group Chief Executive Officer Dr. Gregory Daniel made the announcement today.

In this role, Celmer, who has nearly 35 years experience in the medical and manufacturing industries, will have operational responsibilities for the day-to-day management of Exigence North America’s 26 operating subsidiaries. These subsidiaries include Buffalo Emergency Associates, LLP, WNY Immediate Care, Pulse Occupational Medicine, Exigence Emergency Medical Services, and the Exigence Hospitalist Program.

In addition, Celmer will be leading Exigence’s business development division and growth initiatives over all current and future operating business lines throughout the U.S. and Canada.

Celmer is the former president and CEO of both DeGraff Memorial Hospital in N. Tonawanda, NY and the WCA Healthcare System in Jamestown, NY. He was most recently the president and CEO of Multisorb Technologies International of West Seneca, NY.

At Multisorb, a leader in the design, development, production and marketing of products servicing the automotive, pharmaceutical, electronics, medical diagnostic, spill control, general packaging, food packaging, and plastics industries, Celmer a global organization of six companies with $60 million in annual sales and more than 400 employees. He was at Multisorb from 2000 to 2007.

He was president and CEO of the WCA Healthcare System from 1994-1999. Celmer is credited with the turnaround of WCA Healthcare, improving cash flow, debt, cost structure and organizational effectiveness. He directed the organization of 1,450 employees and gross revenues in excess of $130 million.

Prior to that role, Celmer was president and CEO of DeGraff Memorial Hospital from 1983 to 1994. There he directed an organization of 1,100 employees, which included the hospital, a skilled nursing facility, and the hospital foundation. He led the development, conversion and merger of DeGraff with Buffalo General Hospital as the seed institution for what is now the Kaleida Health System. Celmer began his career at DeGraff as an associate director in 1979.

Celmer earned a master’s in hospital administration from The George Washington University in 1976. He also holds a bachelor’s degree from Ithaca College.

He is a member of the board of Buffalo State College’s foundation, serves on the board of governors of Roswell Park Cancer Institute, and he is a member of the board of directors of INSYTE Consulting and the Erie County Industrial Development Agency. In addition, Celmer is a member of the board of directors and former chairman of the World Trade Center Buffalo Niagara and a member of the Young Presidents and the World Presidents Organizations.

A native of Western New York, Celmer resides in Clarence, N.Y. with his wife. They have five children.
